Q: What can I put in my video?
Whatever you want, as long as it's focused on Mega Bloks Halo and it's appropriate for all ages (that means no extreme violence/blood/dismemberment, illegal activity, and anything you wouldn't be proud to show your parents). For a good example of what is acceptable, check out the Assault on Squad 45 videos.
Don’t forget that your video entry must be original to you and must not include any material that you do not own or did not create. Please don’t copy other people’s material!
No real people can appear in your video! If we just see your hands or you use your own voice, that's fine.
We'll let you know if there is something wrong with your video, and you're welcome to fix it and re-submit it.
Q: Who can submit videos?
Anyone13 years of age or older who is a resident of any of the following countries: Canada, USA (excluding Puerto Rico), the UK, Australia, France or Mexico.
Note that in order to submit your video, you must also be a member of the Bloks Brigade (register here). There is no cost associated with becoming a member of the Bloks Brigade.
Q: How many videos can I submit?
We will be accepting submissions from September 1 to October 25. You can submit ONE video per category. Of course, if your previous submission was rejected, you are allowed to submit again. But we will not accept submissions for a category once you have an approved video in that category.
Q: Is there a time limit for videos?
Each video must be from 1 to 3 minutes long. Any videos not strictly meeting this requirement will be rejected.
Q: Can I make a video series?
No. If you do submit multiple videos, each one must stand alone and not be a part of a series (we can't properly judge a series).
Q: What if I can't upload my video?
Make sure that your video meets the video specifications. If you still need help, you can contact us at community@megabloks.com.
Q: How can I remove my video?
If for any reason you need to remove your video, please send us an e-mail at community@megabloks.com subject line “Remove My Halo Toymation Video”.
Q: What is a storyline summary?
A storyline summary is a short (under 200 character) description of what happens in your video.
Q: Once I submit my video and it is accepted, how can you use it?
By entering your video in the Contest, you are giving us permission permission to post your video on the Contest site, Mega Bloks Facebook pages, Mega Bloks blog, Mega Bloks Twitter accounts and to use your video develop mash-ups, promotional material etc.
Q: Can I use [x] music/images/etc. in my video?
You can only use stuff you have the rights to use, so you can't use someone else’s music, images or anything like that without permission.
Q: What about using content from the Halo games?
Content from the Halo games can be used according to Xbox’s Game Content Usage Rules. Read them carefully!
Q: Can I use another company's toys in my video?
Since this is a Mega Bloks Halo contest, we'd like you to keep other company's toys out of your video. However, if you're using a generic toy that we don't make as a prop or something, it's fine!
Q: Why is my video not on the website?
If your video is listed as pending on your profile, please continue to wait. If your video was rejected, it is because it did not meet the rules and regulations. If there is something you can change to make it meet the regulations, we will communicate with you in order to tell you what to do next.
Q: Can I submit a video without being a member?
No. You must be a member of the Bloks Brigade to submit a video. Again, there is no cost associated with becoming a member of the Bloks Brigade.
Q: Can I work in a group?
Yes, but you must elect a single person -- the Group Representative -- to submit the video on the group's behalf. We will not award multiple prizes for group submissions; it's up to the Group Representative to determine how any prize will be distributed.
Q: Where can I get sound effects for my video?
Soundboard.com and Freesound.org both have large collections of free sound effects.
Q: What programs can I use to make stop-motion animation?
For Windows, a lot of people use MonkeyJam.
