Pascal Blais

Pascal Blais is currently president of Pascal Blais Studio, a company dedicated to producing high quality animation for Advertising, TV and Film. His creative direction and clear proficiency in communication have left their mark on hundreds of TV-commercials and created memorable brand characters such as Kellogg’s Mr Mini-Wheats , Yoplait’s Minigo Bear, Coca-Cola’s Santa and General Mills Honey-Nut Cheerios Bee.

Born in Montreal, Pascal is a self-taught animator - inspired by Disney’s storytelling style from a very early age. In 1983 Pascal Blais productions opened and quickly became a symbol for high-quality work in the field of animation. As his company grew, it broadened the range of animation services from traditional cell to Stop-Motion / Clay Animation to Computer Animation, Mixed-Media and other techniques.

Currently this studio is working with clients in Canada, the United States, South America, Europe, and the Far East and developing new business opportunities such as creating original content projects for TV series and feature films.

Fun facts about Pascal Blais

  • First animated film, "The Old Lady and the Pigeons", won many international awards including a Genie in Canada and a BAFTA in Britain, and also secured an Oscar nomination.
  • The studio's next film, "The Old Man and the Sea" directed by Alexander Petrov and based on the Hemingway novella, went on to win an Oscar. It involved more than 29,000 hand painted images and was the first animated film ever shot with a large-format IMAX camera developed by the studio.
